I’ve been to Budapest, Hungary three times, and I still haven’t blogged about it. Feel pity on me- it’s such a lovely city to spend time with friends and family.

From its beautiful architecture, spa-like thermals baths, Grand history, and crazy good food, and a combination of all those well-known places like Parliament and the Danube River here are a few of my most favourite things to see and do while in Budapest.

Top Places to visit in Budapest

Vajdahunyad Castle

Budapest Attractions, It was an absolute fairy tale to be there sincerely because the architecture was such that it made me “It felt like I had dove into a storybook.”

I went to the castle of Vajdahunyad and I was absolutely fascinated.

This uniqueness of the castle is due to its combination of various styles one of them is more medieval, the other is more romantic, but all that fits together perfectly.

As I was walking around the grounds whereafter the lake and trees surrounded me, I felt like I was in the scene entirely

It is precisely that type of place where you are able to simply pause and just enjoy the moment.

Glow of Danube Bank / A Riverside Walk On The Danube

One of Budapest tourist spots, during a walk along the Danube Bank, it is so calming in Budapest.

The river is long with stunning panoramas of the city-building Parliament, bridges and the other
side Buda castle.

I simply loved to walk by the water with the boats passing by and enjoy the breeze.

It is that type of a place, where you can have a moment and appreciate what this city has to offer.

The city has this split personality thing going on Buda is the responsible older sibling with castles and views, while Pest is the one who texts you at 1 a.m. like, “ruin bar?” (Of course, I said yes.)

It is magical at night as the lights are bouncing off the water and it seems that the city is glittering to you only.

 

 Széchenyi Thermal Baths

Crazy Things to do in Budapest, The thermal baths? Some dubious swimwear, gossip and steam.

I wet till my fingers were all wrinkled like I had grown decades old, and I do not regret a minute of it.

Top places to visit in Budapest, I had some time at Szechenyi Thermal Baths in Budapest and it was fabulous. As soon as you enter, the warm steam reaches you and you feel that all your stress evaporates.

The baths are immense, the indoor and outdoor pools, and the water is just right, in other words, you require it after roaming about the city.

People are talking, laughing or simply floating around and the whole thing seems so soothing.

I did go to the saunas and steam rooms, too, and I tell you, these were pure bliss.

It is such a place that you have no idea how time has passed, and you are simply enjoying the moment.

Pack something light for your feet. Trust me.

Szentendre A Beautiful Village

Street art Szentendre is a walking painting, it is colorful, warm, and gorgeous everywhere.

I went to Szentendre, top places to visit, it is as though you entered a picture.

The village is very colorful, and its streets are stone-cobbled, there are also the small cafes and the art galleries in every street corner.

It was so serene to walk through it, but alive at the same time.

I had to pause the second and third times just and admire the colorful houses.

One of Budapest Attractions, the flowers tumbling out of windows, and the scent of fresh pastries in the air.

Such that you want to drop down and enjoy it to the fullest. In fact, it is such an experience that you feel warm and happy even after you have gone.

 

Hungarian Traditional Food

An experience to try the Hungarian traditional famous food is hard to forget. Langos and Chimney Cake With each bite, one gets a chance to savor a bit of the Hungarian history and culture.

I was a fan of the boldness and flavor of everything, as you can see the chefs pour their heart into it.

Frankly speaking, this is not a place to fill your stomach, it is a place to fill your soul.

I had no intentions of falling in love with Budapest.

It had simply come between my third chimney cake and my view of the Danube at sunset when it was golden as though a secret of some royalty.

Ruin Bars In Kazinczsy

One of the top places to visit, Budapest is pretty famous for its Ruin Bars and Budapest nightlife, so of course, we had to check out the oldest and most iconic one Szimpla Kert.

The place is massive, with quirky rooms filled with decorations, live music, and just a really cool vibe.

We spent the evening exploring, and honestly, it turned into one of those nights you don’t forget.

And if you’re still up for more after that, Budapest definitely delivers. The city has plenty of clubs that keep the party going until sunrise.

We popped into one called Instant for a quick look around, but after such a long day, we were completely worn out and called it a night.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Normafa Park

Normafa, Oh my! It felt like stepping into a different side of Budapest, one that’s all about fresh air and wide-open views.

The moment I got there, I was greeted with this incredible panorama of the city it honestly made me stop for a second and just breathe it all in.

What I loved is how everyone seemed to have their own vibe here.

Families were out for a walk, couples cozy on benches, and friends laughing while sharing snacks.

I wandered around the trails, surrounded by trees, and it felt so peaceful that time just slipped away.

And then the food yes, you can’t miss out on grabbing a warm chimney cake or even a hot chocolate from one of the little stalls.

It was simple, but oh so satisfying.

Normafa is that kind of place where you feel both relaxed and alive at the same time.

Warm pastry in the cold air? Absolute bliss.

Stunning views from the top of the city, you will be amazed while looking at it.

My Final Thoughts

One of the sweetest little things I picked up in Budapest was learning a few Hungarian greetings.

Just simple words, but oh, the reaction from people was priceless.

You could almost see their eyes light up when I tried. It felt like a warm handshake without even touching.

The first time I said “Köszönöm” (thank you), the cashier at a small café smiled so wide I thought she might hand me an extra pastry.

Me: “Köszönöm.”
Cashier: “Oh, you speak Hungarian? That’s so nice! You’re welcome.”

And I just stood there grinning, with my coffee and cake in hand, feeling like I had unlocked a secret key to their hearts.

Later, while leaving a little bookstore, I tried “Jó napot kívánok” (have a good day).

The shopkeeper paused, tilted her head with this surprised look, then smiled.

Me: “Jó napot kívánok.”
Shopkeeper: “Ah, perfect! You too, jó napot!”

It was such a tiny exchange, but it left me glowing all the way out the door.

Honestly, learning those simple greetings made me feel less like a tourist and more like a guest.

A guest who was truly welcome.
